Did you know that one litre of used oil can contaminate one million litres of fresh water? Our municipality wanted to do something positive for the environment, so along with the Rural Municipality of Hillsburg and  the Manitoba Association for Resource Recovery Corp we opened an Eco-Centre in March of 2002.

An Eco-Centre is a facility that collects used oil, oil filters and empty plastic oil containers. They are then refined into lube oil and other petroleum products, that can be used in the production of asphalt for roads and highways.

There are more than 110 purpose-built Eco-Centres and more than 900 registered collection points in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Our facility is located on Highway #5 East beside B&P Sales & Service. It's hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The facility is operated  by the folks at B&P Sales & Service.
